I love smoothie bowls, they are my favourite things to eat for breakfast. It is simple, easy and quick to make. Plus they are packed with all the required macronutrients. Along with smoothie bowls, I love chocolates too, so I combined both the things and made chocolate smoothie bowl. I topped this chocolate smoothie bowl with fresh apple and strawberry slices, goji berries and hemp seeds.
The basic recipe for this chocolate smoothie bowl is very simple. For the chocolate flavour, I have used chocolate protein powder and cacao powder. For vegan options, you can use any vegan chocolate protein powder.
Raw cacao powder is made by cold-pressing unroasted cocoa beans. The process keeps the living enzymes in the cocoa and removes the fat (cacao butter). Cocoa looks the same but it’s not. Cocoa powder is raw cacao that’s been roasted at high temperatures. Sadly, roasting changes the molecular structure of the cocoa bean, reducing the enzyme content and lowering the overall nutritional value. Cacao powder is known to have a higher antioxidant content than cocoa, and has been linked to a variety of benefits.
They have a mild, nutty flavor and are often referred to as hemp hearts. Hemp seeds contain over 30% fat. They are exceptionally rich in two essential fatty acids, linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3). They also contain gamma-linolenic acid, which has been linked with several health benefits.
